A Buyers Life - NY Now 2018

We love buying trips to NYC. Travelling from Vancouver is relatively fast and the inspiration is deep. It is a tremendously busy week of buying for Fall/ Winter 2018 through Spring 2019.
A visit to Bergdorf Goodman will always stimulate the senses and the fashion and home decor floors cover most of the newest trends. Many home decor trends start in fashion and we certainly weren't disappointed by the abundant creativity, showcasing sublime mixes of colour and texture.
Decorative table display at Bergdorf Goodman
The Interiors and Gift floor was being styled for a photo shoot with Cabana; suggesting a new approach to tradition juxtaposed with modernism and a  contemplative moodiness.
Highly decorative table settings were layered with burnished gold, pearls, fine china and crystal.
Jackets on display by Valentino in animal print
Animal prints have returned to fashion and home interiors and are being shown with dramatic use of colour, patterns and texture.  Bejewelled finishes and merging cultural references show an experimental design approach.
Fall fashion in the shoe department
Patterned fabric shown with florals and various place settings
A sublime combination of patterns where nature meets hints of Asian motifs and give richness to decor.
Patterns of wallpaper
Touches of Asian decor mixed up with contemporary styling.
Grandmother's vintage china and cutlery, crystal and decorative objects are being brought out and integrated into the home with a modern sensibility. There is a subtle suggestion that disposable home decor has given way to higher quality collectibles reflecting inspiration from travels to far away places.

Curating a Collection

We started our buying with a very strong mental image of how the Fall/ Winter collection should develop. Sensuous, moody, glamorous with updated colourations grounded in softened earthy neutrals.
Silk velvet pillows
A certain feminine softness and glamour is suggested by gentle curves in silk fabrics tempered with earthy tones of coyote, taupe, grey and pink. A perfect balance between past and present.
Silk velvet pillows
Textural linear patterns softened by dots with grey, coyote and bluish pink undertones suggests a new decorative approach in the collection.
More wonderful cushions and patterns
Pink has continued expanding its reach into home decor.  These large format Euro pillows will give height and a slightly over scaled dimension to bed dressing.
We chose pink faux fur throws and pillows from Paris to layer up beds and sofas with a luxurious softness.
Pink is also shown in Chanel inspired faux fur designed in France
A certain earthy neutrality will ground this glamorous collection.
Oversized decorative euro shams
Woven jacquard materials drawing on old world designs in new colourways once again give homage to interest in the history behind textiles.  These large format Euro pillows will style beautifully with the collection.
Large format candles in marbled glass
Stone inspired graphics reference the popularity of hard finishes and curved lines in home decor. The concept of scaling up the presentation and having one grand piece rather than several small gives personality to home decor. Honed and matte finishes have strengthened their presence.
                                                  Home diffusers
Over sized diffusers offer a grand presentation made of texturous hand blown glass.
Dressed table with china and white linens with woven lurex
Although we thoroughly acknowledge our personal interest in warm metals our senses were enchanted by silvery whites and metallic threads.
Beaded placemats and crystal napkin rings
As we imagine dressing the dining table our interest was piqued by the new introduction of metallic silver threads woven into tabletop.  We imagined a silvery, white table dressing styled with crystal and clean linear glass.
New modern styles in bathroom accessories
Making a full commitment to ne plus ultra decorative accessories for the Fall/Winter season we sourced highly decorative accessories for the bathroom and powder room.
Hand painted finishing in an ombre style
Graded or dipped treatments in fabrics and home decor continue to bring interest.
Hand painted and decorated accessories by artisan jewellers
Accessories bejeweled with Swarovski crystals on hand painted enamel bring a luxuriously rich touch.
We completed our decorative approach with opulent decorative frames and jewel boxes fit for royalty.
