Bedding and Throws at Maison et Objet

Bedding at Maison et Objet

Maison et Objet is the French trade fair held in Paris showcasing Interior Design. One of our main focuses for attending is to view the Spring/Summer Collections in bedding and home collections for 2018. We are hyper niched in luxury, high design home textiles and were seeking new vendors to expand our present merchandise mix. The season is full of exciting colours, materials and texture often inspired by elite ready to wear fashion houses. Maison is among the 3 largest European trade shows and is known for being the ultimate platform for the international design community showing new lifestyle and home decor trends.  There was a sense of  duality in many designs with sublime pairings of sophistication versus organic design and modernity versus tradition.  Although there are so many home textile companies please enjoy a selection of our most memorable impressions.

The show was very high energy, totally inspirational and showcased a real play on contrasts. With hand crafted natural materials shown alongside glorious embellished velvet and simple bedding shown on French renaissance bed frames, there was also a sense of blurred boundaries between indoors and outdoors with living plants and floral motifs everywhere.

Blumarine showcased feminine florals and damasks with layers of glamorous fur, intricate lace and patterns with jewelry inspired embellishment.  Made in Italy the bedding offers both grace and "joie de vivre" suiting fresh modern decor.

Roberto Cavelli, the iconic Italian designer created bedding driven by his passion for deeply feminine design using luxurious materials. The diverse melody of patterns in different scales dressed up with animal inspired quilts, furs and dramatic accent colours produced a very dramatic effect.

Cavelli close up reveals a masterful play on patterns all within a scale that gives a sense of organized beauty.

Designers Guild designed by Tricia Guild showcased large contemporary florals seasoned with flair, whimsy and updated modern colours. (View video) Tricia always seems to be on top of current trends and her Fall/Winter collection gracefully embellishes home decor with deep dark velvets and florals inspired by the golden age of Dutch painting.

We also had the opportunity to visit the new showroom in Paris which showcased the entire Designers Guild Collection

One of our favourite companies is Dea Luxury Linens of Italy; a generational manufacturer of fine linens specializing in age old textile traditions and hand-crafted embroideries, lace and jacquards. The company is run by three generations of women and has maintained unparalleled quality and artistry in their designs since 1963. The brand is made exclusively in Italy in a charming village called Pistoia, south of Florence.

Versilia is a new contemporary woven jacquard perfect for the urban lifestyle. Duvet covers, shams and quilted coverlets are available in charcoal, sea blue, white and ivory.

The applique borders are stunning and bring classical form to the contemporary bed.

We chose Versilia embroidery to complement our collection, adding touches of timeless elegance to contemporary jacquards.

This new woven jacquard bedding has the most sumptuous drape and a neutral colour suiting a traditional home.

Some of the private label designs are available to a choice few in strong contrasting black and white which is so popular for the season.

Spring colours are bright and format well in quilted coverlets, embroidered bedding and towels.

Versilia is also shown in the most enchanting lace and provides a luxurious border for specialty towels. We have expanded our collection of specialty hand towels that should arrive in November 2017.

These marvelous Begg and Co. throws are made in Scotland by a generational company that uses the wet removal cashmere method then texturizes the surface with a particular species of thistles grown in Italy. The colour and weight of the throws and scarves are extraordinary.

We are expecting our order around the end of October just in time to cozy up for winter.

One of our favorite cashmere companies Alonpi has the most gorgeous printed cashmere throws. The cashmere sourced from the foothills of the Alps (where the cascading waters are highly oxygenated) is renowned for the softest cashmere. These would be our choice for the most extraordinary personal blanket or to decorate your home. Manufactured in the Northern part of Italy and arriving November 2017 at Fino Lino.

Linen was the most prominent textile at Maison for bedding, tabletop and drapery panels. Transparent elements diffuse light and give a sense of intimacy in personal sanctuaries.

We loved the forward use of colour and weight in the Oyuna throws; we also ordered fashion accessories for our cashmere loving clients.

Evelyn Prelonge founded their business in fashion accessories and expanded into home accessories. They showcase the softest and most luxurious faux furs throws in their new collection. Manufactured in Marseille from the finest materials they will bring the most luxurious and skin pleasing accent to your home. They have arrived at Fino Lino, and have been one of our most popular introductions!

We were happy to discover Linenme from Lithuania. The colours and textures of solid linen are very fun and very current. We are planning a new bedding line for Spring/Summer 2018.

Signoria’s new designs especially the Platinum collection in midnight sateen with triple embroidery is soooo chic and modern.

We also previewed designs usually only shown in the European market.

New colours in Ravello were selected for our new collection.

Ravello is a modern classic bedding pattern in dreamy neutral tones.

… and our favourite pattern from Signoria was Rosetta in two colour ways which we will be very excited to introduce early 2018.

Of course dining out in Paris is always a marvelous experience. William and Lauren with Sabrina an owner of Dea Luxury Linens, above. Concluding our buying trip to Paris we always have to visit Galeries la Fayette and have lunch at Cafe de la Paix.

Then we were off to Italy to view  new collections in Milan.

Pratesi was showing new jacquards available in duvet covers and shams in three colorways.

Made in Italy, this illustrious company is known for fine workmanship in embroideries,
appliques and laces. The base cotton fabric used to embellish is called "Angel Skin" an apt
description for the softest feel in flat weave cotton.

Pratesi prints for the light at heart seeking to add more fun and whimsy to their decor.

Available in three colorways.

Exquisite inset lace by Pratesi.

The detail and coordination across different scales is a true Pratesi signature

Pattern available in 3 colorways.

Beautiful cashmere throws showcase the Pratesi signature of prestige and luxury.

… and finally, a visit to the Etro showroom to view the new collections. Founded in 1968 it remains a family business. Famous for their fabulous paisley and floral designs in prints and luxe velvets, in both fashion and home collection.  Renewed interest in collectible home furnishings that give a personal connection to the past and future once again brings Etro into the forefront of the textile industry.

New towel patterns, throws and ottomans. Delivery in November 2017 through Spring 2018.

We have returned from a creative adventure in Europe fully inspired and ready to present the Fino Lino Collection for Fall Winter 2017 and Spring 2018.

The showroom is decorated for the season with many new and exclusive textiles to enhance your home and bring happiness to your life.

We look forward to introducing our new collection with great anticipation, and a love of materializing your personal vision of your home.
